2 TIMOTHY
Summary Of 2 Timothy: Paul writes this letter to Timothy from a Roman prison about 67 A.D. Shortly thereafter, according to tradition, he will be beheaded. Paul's purpose is to encourage Timothy in his ministry in Ephesus. Paul's theme is the need for faithfulness in the face of hardship.
2 TIMOTHY 1
BE FAITHFUL
Chapter 1
Summary: Paul exhorts Timothy to be faithful to the Christian faith.
(I) Be diligent (1-7): (A) blessings (1-2); (B) encouragement (3-5); (C) exhortation (6-7).
(II) Be bold (8-12): (A) do not be ashamed (8); (B) you have been called (9-10); (C) I am not ashamed (11-12).
(III) Be loyal (13-18): (A) guard the truth (13-14); (B) some are unfaithful (15); some are faithful (16-18).
Lesson: Be faithful to the Christian faith, and encourage others likewise.

BE COMMITTED
Chapter 2
Summary: Commitment to ministry requires being strong and approved.
(I) Be strong (1-13): (A) focus on the mission (1-7); (B) focus on the message (8-13).
(II) Be approved (14-26): (A) stay true in the word (14-19); (B) stay true in your walk (20-26).
Lesson: Be totally committed to Jesus' ministry, no matter the cost.

FAITHFULNESS IN MINISTRY
Chapter 3
Summary: Paul paints vivid pictures of the faithless and the faithful.
(I) A picture of faithlessness (1-9): (A) faithlessness in living (1-5); (B) faithlessness in leading (6-9).
(II) A picture of faithfulness (10-17): (A) faithfulness in life (10-12); (B) faithfulness in the word (13-17).
Lesson: Successful ministry requires steadfastness in life and in the word.

SUCCESS IN MINISTRY
Chapter 4
Summary: Success in ministry requires faithfulness in all things.
(I) Preach the word (1-4): (A) seize the opportunity (1-2); (B) it might not come again (3-4).
(II) Fulfill your ministry (5-8): (A) fulfill your ministry (5); (B) as I have fulfilled my ministry (6-8).
(III) Be diligent (9-22): (A) I need you (9-16); (B) the Lord is faithful (17-18); (C) farewell (19-22).
